Golf Simulator Power Requirements and Electrical Guide 2026
Before building your golf simulator, you need to understand the electrical requirements. This guide covers power needs for projectors, launch monitors, and HVAC, plus wiring considerations.
How Much Power Does a Golf Simulator Need?
A typical golf simulator setup draws between 1,500 and 3,500 watts depending on the components. The projector is usually the biggest draw at 300-600 watts. The PC or gaming computer adds 300-800 watts. If you have HVAC or a space heater, that can add another 1,000-1,500 watts. Plan your electrical load around the total, not individual components.
Dedicated Circuit Requirements
Most golf simulator rooms need at least one dedicated 20-amp circuit for the projector and PC. If you are running HVAC, that should be on its own circuit entirely. Avoid running the simulator and high-draw appliances on the same breaker. A single tripped breaker during a round is annoying; it is also avoidable with proper planning.
Outlet Placement
Think about cable management when placing outlets. You want power near the projector mount, near the PC location, and near the launch monitor charging station. Running extension cords across the floor in a golf simulator is a trip hazard and looks messy. Rough in the outlets before finishing the walls.
Surge Protection
Your projector, PC, and launch monitor represent thousands of dollars of equipment. Protect them with a quality surge protector or UPS. A power spike can kill a ,000 projector instantly. This is not an area to cut costs.
